  • Animal\'s Antics   ( 10 Articles )

He's done London. He's raced the train. He's even been a very soggy and cold part of the epic which was Tanky's. Not only does he find it very difficult to be quiet, but he's also verbose and entertaining on paper. Have a read in here for Trogs and bogs, with the odd sensible race thrown in...

  • Roberts Rambles   ( 20 Articles )

Rob frequently puts pen to paper to pass and share comments on anything from the weather to bowel movements. He is so frequent that this section of the website is dedicated to the Hairy Chair's musing's and observations of the world at large.... or at least of the world as it relates to us Hinkley-ites...

Note: Rob's Epic, the Hairy Hobble from Land's End to John O'Groat's, was so huge and epic it merited a section in its own right. You can find it in the menus (The Hairy Hobble) on the left.

Blessed we are to have club members who have taken part in events from The Great South to London and further afield. Blessed moreso are we that these members have taken the time to put fingers to keyboard to share with us their anecdotes and adventures.

If you have a story or two to share, please mail it to the Buzzard at   This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it , and we'll happily include your story for all to share...

  • Confessions of a Race Director   ( 2 Articles )

Who would be a Race Director?

Over the years Dave has been involved in organising many races and has indeed competed in a lot more.  When you are running in an event you never appreciate what effort has gone in to organising the day and also the problems that can occur throughout the day.

There are a few tales which have genuinely happened over the years that he would like to share with you so that next time you run in an event you may have some sympathy for the Race organisers.

There are so many other tales that he could tell and so many other problems that we encounter.  It sometimes does not matter how well you plan and event as there are always things that happen that are out of you control.  Just remember this when you do your next race and give a little thanks to the marshal’s and organisers who do this for nothing but for the love of the sport!
