Swithland 6

A mildy-chaotic-as-usual team photo from the Swithland 6 on Sunday. We’ve been treated to good weather for most of the LRRL league races so far! These local road races are inexpensive and open to all senior club members. Our thanks to Birstall Running Club for organising the race.

HRC Quadrathon 2024

Juniors vs. Seniors β€” Your Club needs you in the battle of the 2024 Quadrathon!

Who will run fastest, throw the furthest and jump the greatest distance? Come and join us on Saturday 6th July (12pm β€” 4pm) at Pingles Stadium in Nuneaton to show the other half of the club who’s best.

It will be a fun day for the whole club and all Senior and Junior members of the club are invited.

The event will be similar to Juniors’ Quadkids events, with all participants taking part in a sprint, long run, long jump and howler throw on a real athletics track.

Everyone will receive a medal and bragging rights will go to the winning team!

The run distances are:
– Sprint: 60m (Year 3 and below), 75m (Year 4-6), 100m (Year 8+ and Adults)
– Long Run: 400m (Year 3 and Below), 600m (Year 4-5), 800m (Year 6-8), 1500m (Year 9+ and Adults)

The event has been arranged to commemorate Sally Zelenczuk, a much loved member of HRC Seniors who died earlier this year of cancer aged just 31. All entry fees for the event will go to Neuroendocrine Cancer UK in her memory.

Special thanks go to Pingles Stadium who have donated the use of the venue for the event free of charge. We look forward to seeing you all there!

Price: Β£8 per participant.

Tuesday training session

Tuesday training this week was in Queens Park. There were plenty of regular faces and we welcomed a couple of newbies who were coming along for the first time to try us out. Here is what the session was, to give a flavour of what our Tuesday “seniors” nights are like:

Session: “The Accelerator”

Session location and time: Queens Park (entrance by The Lawns) @ 6.30pm

What3words ref: ///booster.arose.evoked

Please arrive warmed up and ready to start the session. It’s light now, but you may need something visible for your run home!

If you’ve never done the accelerator, then you are in for a treat! The aim of this session is to try and use all of your running “gears”.

You will start at a 2/10 effort. Each time I blow the whistle, you will increase your speed to the next level, so 3/10, 4/10 etc. until you are sprinting. You will then come back to 1/10 effort (walking) and we will go again.

Don’t worry if you struggle with pacing it the first time round as you get to repeat this 3 times, so plenty of opportunities to practice!

Last few of the dark nights

Great turn out tonight despite a slightly blurry location map. Especially well done to those that did Ashby on Sunday and still trained tonight!

How could I not post this one? Cross country nutters at Grace Dieu 2024…

Well done to you hard core lot who braved the cold tonight πŸ₯Ά

HRC πŸ’™ HHS parkrun

Looking back to last month when Hinckley members “took over” the volunteer roles and provided pacers at Hastings High School parkrun. Our storage container in the background contains all our Juniors athletics equipment as well as signs, poles and other paraphenalia for our cross country races. It’s also used by the parkrun team to store kit used every Saturday morning.

Bagworth & Derby

Club XC at Bagworth Heath today… it was so, so wet and muddy. Fantastic running from everyone in tough conditions.

One picture from today’s Derby 10 mile. We did it πŸ’ͺπŸ’ͺπŸŽ‰

Well done to all the juniors who attended the second sportshall on Saturday. You all did amazing! πŸ’™πŸ€πŸ’™
