After 3 years of rain, hail and wind, a day of glorious sunshine. We had a fantastic turnout for all three races and some good results, particularly from some of the Hinckley runners. Thank you very much to all of you who who took part.
HALF MARATHON
With the temperatures as high as they were – the weather report this morning was a balmy 27 degrees – course records were unlikely to be threatened. Mark Powell the Owl took first place in the Senior Men’s race in a time of 1:11:09, followed by Jeremy Bradley (Cheltenham and County Harriers) in 1:13:15 and Rob Baker (Hallamshire Harriers) in 1:14:03. In the Ladies’ event Hinckley’s Beth Eburne shone again taking first place in 1:19:03 ahead of Stilton’s Nicola Clay (1:23:53) and Nicki Nealon from Huncote (1:25:42).
In the other categories Geoff Oliver notched up yet another first for Hinckley in the V70 class in an enviable time of 1:45:03.

FUN RUN
Well done in the Fun Run to Dan Halliday and Katie Silke (both from Hinckley Running Club) for taking first places in the Men’s and Women’s races respectively. Dan was ruled out of the half a couple of weeks ago with an ankle niggle, but ran a very respectable 16:38, over a minute ahead of second place. Katie regained her place at the top of the ladies’ event after last year’s absence with a time of 19:39.
KIDS KAPER
In the Kids Kaper the Blythes from Tamworth AC swept the over year 4 board, Aidan taking the boys in 5:04, and Corinne the girls just behind in 5:11. It’s not often you see a one two – or a one one – in a race! Second in the boys went to Samuel Elliott in 5:16, and in the girls to Georgia gatside in 5:26.
