Hinckley Running Club Wombles were founded in May 2020 with equipment generously provided free of charge by Hinckley and Bosworth Borough Council. Frustrated by the amount of litter ruining our towns, villages and countryside and prevented from running together by lockdown #1, we decided we may as well meet up to do something constructive and beneficial to the environment.
By our 1 year anniversary we had collected over 200 bags litter from various places in Hinckley and Burbage and the surrounding areas. Details of all litter collected is collated on our Facebook page and passed on to South Leicestershire Litter Wombles, who record data for the whole of the area.
We organise group picks and also loan out equipment to allow people to Womble whenever they feel the need.
Membership is purely voluntary and there is no obligation to join or participate in litter picks organised – just come along if you are free!
