Ros Clayton (our very own Mary Berry) and Dave Burton (Paul Hollywood) will be our resident judges for this spectacular event.

Ingredients and instructions will posted on Facebook on the evening of Friday 12th December to all of those who have expressed and interest in taking part . Cakes are to be baked on the Saturday and brought along to the Christmas Party for judging.

All cakes will then be sold at £1 per slice with proceeds going to a charitable cause.

If you would like further information, or wish to enter the HRC GBBO then please send a message to Dave Masser or Paul Clayton.

Markfield XC 2014 – Results

Men-MarkfieldXC

Ladies-markfieldXC

Well done everyone who took part or supported. We had 22 men and 10 ladies finish.

As a team we came 4th in League 1 (Based on 7 men (including 2 vets) and 3 ladies (including 1 vet)).

Men came 4th in League 1 and Ladies came 3rd in League 2. A good start to the season all-round!

Many people who had done the same course in previous years improved their time and position. There were also plenty of people for whom it was there first XC for the club. Well done and please tell everyone else how much fun you had.

As our Chairman, John Padbury, mentioned at the AGM, racing can be a very good form of training. Many people are looking to either build up to a main race in the Spring, or just improve their fitness generally. For me I find XC a great strength workout and I think it is important to try and vary your training, so a bit of off road work for most should help.

With 21 men Ed and I had our work cut out to pick Runner of the day (ROD). We will aim to announce it Thursday.

HRC 5k Time Trial

Tuesday 25th September 2012

This Tuesday is the club 5k time trial which is being held on a new course.  Please meet at the club at the normal time of 6:15 for a 6:30pm start.  Due to the inclement weather forcast we will not be hanging around at the start for very long.

The new course is detailed below and we will have Steve, Andy and John at the turning points and Linda and Sarah at the finish.  The start will be next to the cricket pitch down Barwell Lane if you would sooner meet there.

HINCKLEY HALF MARATHON

The Hinckley Half Marathon has been running since 2001 and over that period approximately £100,000 has been raised in profits and donations for the chosen charities.  As the race has grown, so too has the level of organisation and the need for increased marshals, helpers and officials.  This has increased the level commitment that I and Linda have had to give and the number of runners has also put a strain on the Water Park as parking has become an issue in recent years.

Both Linda and myself have over the years committed endless hours of our time, on behalf of Hinckley Running Club, to ensure that the event is managed to the best of our ability and we are proud of our achievements.  Many thanks must also be noted to the generous support from fellow club members, friends and family over the years to which the race could not have been put on without their help.

However, for reasons outlined above it is with great sadness that I have decided to no longer organise the Hinckley Half Marathon and I have been unable to find anyone who is prepared to take over the duty as Race Director on behalf of the club.  As a consequence the event will no long continue.

I appreciate that many of you will be disappointed but I hope that you understand my reasons.  Could I once again thank all the runners and helpers who have help to contribute to the success of the Hinckley Half Marathon and wish them every success in the future.

Dave
