RESULTSDerby Runner XC League – Race 4 – Allestree Park – 21st January 2017=8 Seniors Results – Team Tables – Note: No juniors results available as the results sheets disintegrated in the snow.
What a fantastic race to be part of, my first in the snow for sure. A smaller than usual team with 9 hardy cross country lovers from Hinckley taking part. The ladies team of 4 came 7th in Div 1. Unfortunately since we only had 5 men the men’s and mixed teams did not score ?. (A mens team requires 8 finishers and a mixed team requires 7 men and 3 women.) All the same a great race enjoyed by all.
Our thanks to the marshals photographers and supporters standing out n the cold while we who were running at least got to stay warm.

Please note the important parking restrictions and the necessity for car sharing if using the race car park. The seniors fee is £3 and juniors £1.

CAR SHARE from Hinckley: Meet at Trinity Vicarage Lane carpark (LE10 0BU) form 8:45am to leave by 9.
The 2018 ECCA Saucony National Cross Country Championships will be at Parliament Hill, Hampstead Heath on Saturday 24th February.
Last year a few of us did this when it was in Nottingham and it was a really good day. It was my first time doing the National and I would say it was quite an experience and would recommend anyone to try it at least once. It’s a bit like the County XC but on a MASSIVE scale with runners from clubs from the entire country taking part. The start line is about half a mile wide. It is a historic event going back to 1876 and has been won by such names as Paula Radcliffe.
The senior women’s race is 8km (at 2:20pm) and the senior mens is 12km (at 3pm) and there are juniors races all day too. It is open to ANYONE in the club to enter there is no need to be super fast or anything. But you do need to be EA registered.
I am putting together a list for the club entry (they like entries to be done as a block if possible) so let me (Nick Moore) know if you are interested. The price is £8. It is about 1hr 45m drive from Hinckley and the idea is that when we know who is going we can together and travel down as a group, we can take the tent etc.
Please note the important restrictions on parking and the necessity for car sharing if using the race car park – we will organise a car share as usual. The seniors fee is £4. Also of particular note is the brand new route which is different from the previous years!
Remember there is no need to book a place in these races as they are “turn up on the day” and open to all members of the club. The more the merrier! Club vest is available for £15 if you don’t have one yet.
Photo from the Bradgate Park XC in 2016 – by Stephen Lee.The new course for 2017
We had another really enjoyable XC race on Sunday. 22 HRC seniors finished the race and 21 finished, with Steve P unfortunately wounded after slipping on a nasty rock and ending up with 6 stitches to the knee. He got rapid attention from the marshals & medics and several nearby runners from other clubs gave up their race to stop and help him — thank you to all who helped.
Simon Birch came a brilliant 2nd in the men’s race (adjusted down from an initial 1st as the true winner Nathaniel Walker had been misdirected). Also there was no men’s disc 328 handed out so anybody after this position will find themselves moved up 1 place.
It was also a triumph of cakes with contributions from Steve, Greg, Megan and Richard.
Thanks to Hermitage Harriers who put on this event. I will finish with few pictures below.

For Sunday’s race, if you would like to join to the car share please come to the Trinity Vicarage Road car park (LE10 0BU) 9am to leave by 9:15.
The race is £4 for seniors and £1 for juniors. Pay on the day as usual, no need to pre-register and it is open to all members of the club! Even if you can’r race why not come and support, take photos etc. Don’t forget to bring a mug if you would like to relax with a hot drink after the race ?
It was a lovely sunny morning out at Prestwold Hall on Sunday. 25 senior club members braved the approx 6½ mile course, including 3 new members running their first race in a Hinckley vest, and 13 of our juniors ran in the 1 and 2 mile races.
Entries are now open for the Leicestershire & Rutland County Cross Country Championships. These will be held at Rotherby Farm, Gaddesby Lane, Rotherby on Saturday 6th January 2018.
Sadly not as convenient for us as the last two years when it was held a Burbage Common!
This is a traditional cross country event in its 92nd year. There are 8 races on the day divided by male/female and age categories U13, U15, U17, Junior(U20)/Senior/Masters(35+). Those over 35 have the option of entering in either the Senior or Masters category. It is an individual choice but we are recommending to enter as Senior for team purposes.
To enter this race you must have a current England Athletics registration, and you must be either born in Leicestershire or have lived there for 9 months.

Note £4 for adults and and £1 for juniors. We will arrange a car share as usual – look out for info. All HRC members are welcome encouraged to take part – a club vest is available for £15 if you don’t have one yet. There is no need to book a place in these races as they are “turn up on the day” and open to all members of the club. Hope to see a big load of you there ?
Final XC results have now been received for the Bagworth race and I have uploaded these to the Races 2017/18 page. Now with correct Ladies league table 🙂
